Katcha Roads of Kerala - Tolerance or paranoia!!!!!

The international brands ruling the automobile industry recite an interesting term to promote their sumptuous products - they say our product has been designed exclusively for "Indian Roads."  This phrase has become too popular that people have ceased to understand its negativity!  The fact is that a car designed for Indian Roads means the car has been designed to take on the worst! As a matter of fact the car might be good, but the ROAD?

Every year crores of taxes are wasted upon these INDIAN ROADS, but still these paths are unable to be converted into ROADS!!

Road repair works done in December -> the surface shows signs of damage in summer -> monsoon sets in and the little potholes grow into deep and wider pits -> "sealed!!!!!" tenders called for maintenance work, which might be eventually completed by December.  Then the cycle starts once again!!!The only good that comes out of this is that the labourers who do the road maintenance gets their daily wages.

Is asking for a normal tarred road without potholes a crime?  Is making such roads a mission impossible?  Is it that the Hon. Govt. does not have the money to spend on roads?  Where exactly is things going wrong and what exactly should be done to rectify this? Why are we being so tolerant, or are we turning out to be paranoid?

A person working in the Private sector does his job, but if he does not meet the expectations of the employer - he is fired.  The officers in the PWD has been not been doing their job for decades now and still not a single officer has faced any action whatsoever!!!! Strange... isnt it?  This is one reason why the government sector has turned out to be the liability and a curse to the nation.  The parties opposing privatisation is actually ruining the future of the Indian economy.  We desperatley need an effeciant mechanism that is result-oriented and transparent.  The politicians are only interested in POWER.  It would be foolish to wait for the politicians to act.  We need more episodes of the ANNA HAZARE phenomenon to bring a positive change to our degenerating economy.

Some say the contractors are to be blamed.  Think again.  Why is it that the contractors have been getting away with this LOOT for such a long time now?  The system needs an immediate makeover.

A strict quality standard needs to be put in place to ensure that the roads are built in the required manner; or else cancel the contract and make the contract pay the penalty.  Trust me, the Indian roads will then be called ROADS.  India has had a very tough past and India deserves a good future.  It is our responsibility to make sure the future is bright.  Let us do our bit, let us wake up and make sure our cry is heard.
